"Rent A Chair How To” eBook
The most common thread amongst the feedback is still disbelief that such a system is truly legal or even possible. I fully understand why most are going to hold onto the old belief, I mean after all its not in the authorities interest to inform you that it is in fact possible to operate a Rent A Chair salon, in a way outlined in my new “Micro Salon Business Kit in a Box”.
I am fully aware of the following regulatory clauses,
If you’re in WA…
Clause 11 Wages, Sub clause 5, Ban on Sub-Contracting
No employer shall rent any portion of the salon to an employee or employ any employee in the hairdressing trade on a commission-only basis, or in any manner other than prescribed in this award.
If you’re in SA…
10.1.1 No person shall directly or indirectly request or permit any other person to pay, or give or shall receive from any other person, any premium, bonus, consideration, or payment for employing, or teaching, or purporting to employ or teach, such person or any other person, any of the callings to which this Award applies.
10.1.2 Renting of chairs is hereby prohibited.
If you’re in Qld
10.1 Chair renting prohibited
The renting of chairs in Hairdressing salons is prohibited.
Now let me give you the tip in relations to these Awards. The awards are in fact accurate and in no way would I endorse or even attempt Renting A Chair while governed by these awards. However, this Micro Salon system is the first system in Australia that by-pass’s all Workplace Industrial Relations Awards, especially those above.
I know you may still want to hang onto that old belief however, I can assure you my lawyer and I have not only a copy of each and every award for each state in Australia, but we have taken them apart from the inside out and have been working on the legality aspects of how this system can truly work for some years now.
We have approval from the Australian Taxation Office for this business model and other salon owners around Australia have already purchased my system and have been granted ATO approval. it works!
What do the Industrial Relations have to say about Micro Salon Rent A Chair System?
Here’s what a Principal Inspector at the Australian Industrial Relations Department has to say about this ingenious new system.
“A self-employed hairdresser who operates his or her business in accordance with the structure set out in this system would not be in breach of the Award.”
Fully understand all of your concern as this has been one of the industries most controversial issues since the day dot! As a salon owner myself for many years operating both the traditional system and this Micro Salon, (rent a chair), system, (as hundreds do illegally), I was never comfortable doing it illegally which is why I eventually figured out a way that was not only legal, but would allow myself and others, (who find this business model suitable), to get on with running their business without breaking any laws.
Many will find this concept hard to swallow I know, the industry is changing so quickly, (as with the entire business world), and this concept will simply fit in as a minor, (but effective), business model amongst the overall business landscape within the hairdressing industry. It will not be a threat to the industry as most likely all you will find is those who are doing it can finally do it legally!
